Mommy Lullabies

This week our lil babe has been rocking my world to the tune of NO SLEEP! I would love to say I have been the gracious picture of maternal sacrifice, remaining loving and kind to my husband and family but the truth is this momma is cranky! I need my sleep!

However, if this is an indicator of what its going to be like after the baby is born then maybe I should commission someone to record some mommy lullabies, since I don't mind waking up so much its just that my over-active brain will not shut down again to let me sleep. Surely I'm not the only one with this problem? Right??

As for the baby, I reckon some Bob Marley lullabies would be pretty cool, although I wonder if anyone has done a version of The Clash in lullabies...

Going to the zoo

This week has been so cloudy and rainy, so when it finally cleared up on the weekend we jumped in the car and went to the zoo to try and make the most of the only clear skies and finally do some holiday type stuff instead of cleaning and unpacking boxes.

This little guy frightened the life out of me as we came in as I almost stepped on him! So much for the animals staying in their cages...

We watched the otter feeding and show, and now I'm pretty sure Chris wants one as a pet. They were so cute though :)

We also crammed in with what seemed like every single child in the zoo to see the tiger show, they were also adorable and we able to get close up, right near the pool.

They were trying to get the tigers to jump into the water using whatever they could... baskets, toys, and even one of the keepers. That guy is brave, he ended up bleeding...but apparently its normal, well at least that is what they said.

We finished off our afternoon at the zoo visiting the elephants, last time we fed them which sounds good in theory but in reality you end up with a bunch of elephant snot on your hand.. lovely ;) Once again I was reminded of how much I would love to go to Thailand someday to see these gorgeous animals.

And after that it was back home again to relax and rest our (well mostly my) weary legs. This whole being pregnant thing really takes up all your energy!

Baby Love: 15 Weeks and the 'Great Summertime Move of 2010'

This week was a bit of a mad rush. We recently found out that we will not have to go far far away for Chris to teach and do his country service next year (HOORAY!) and so we decided that instead of extending our lease we would just move...within a week. This was Saturday, and on Sunday Chris promptly came down with the flu. Fantastic timing.

Needless to say the week was an insane blur, mainly consisting of doctors visits, rental agents, uni assignments, oh and somewhere in between we needed to pack up and clean our entire house!

Enter stage left... our amazing friends and family :) In particular my Mam and sister came and basically packed up the whole house. Between me being pregnant, trying to complete a major uni assignment, and having a constantly aching back (part pregnancy/part previous car accident) and then Chris was basically bedridden and feeling awful for most of the week, we just wouldn't have been able to do it on our own.

Dad was great at rounding up the troops and on Saturday morning we were really feeling the love when people gave up their sleep in, hooked up their trailers and came to help us move house. I think it was basically done in one trip which was amazing.

We're still in the process of unpacking/organising everything and had some very full on days of cleaning the house (again with my new unpaid help :P ) handing back the keys in a few days so hopefully they will be nice and give us all our bond back.

Oh and if you're wondering where the baby bump pic of the week is...my camera was packed away in some box somewhere so we didn't get one in time. Although stay tuned.. there will be a picture filled post soon :)

Baby Love: 14 Weeks

This week was a fun one, we went to the doctors because I had some dramas with my prac placement for uni (LONG story) but while we were there we were able to hear the baby's heartbeat! It was such a lovely sound, although pretty similar to the sound of a train because it was going so fast but the doctor said it sounded good and healthy :) It was a pretty surreal experience to know that our little baby Summertime's heart has already started beating and will continue to beat for the rest of his or her life! Man we have an amazing creator!

We also had a friends engagement party on the weekend which was great, they are such a lovely couple :) Sadly though I don't think I'll be able to wear dresses like this one for much longer! Hello Baby!
